BD Turbo Timer 2 Turbo Cool Down Timer 2 Shuts your engine down automatically when the EGT's (exhaust gas temperatures) reach the shutdown temperature or amount of time you set.
Protect Your Turbocharged Engine with the BD Cool Down Timer 2 Switching your engine off after a heavy haul when the exhaust temperature (EGT) is above normal can result in turbo bearing damage. With the engine stopped, there is no oil flow over the hot turbocharger wheel and bearing assembly, which causes burned oil residue ("coking") and eventual turbo failure.
The good news is, you can prevent this from happening with the BD Cool Down Timer (CDT). All you do is simply set the shut down temperature, lock the doors and walk away. The engine will shut down at the temperature you have specified. The BD Turbo Cool Down Timer 2 can also be set to shut down the engine by a timer you set, too.
The Universal CDT works with any K-Type EGT probe commonly found in most analog pyrometer gauge kits. Just wire it to an existing EGT probe, or install a new one.
Safety Features: BD Cool Down Turbo Timer 2 Module Will:
*Shut the truck down within 5 minutes of the key being turned off even if the temperature does not fall below the shutdown setting.
*If the engine begins a Regeneration Cycle (causing the EGT's to rise) while in Cool Down mode, the BD Turbo Cool Down Timer 2 module will automatically shut the engine down.
*While in Cool Down mode, the BD Cool Down Turbo Timer 2 Module, when connected to the brake pedal switch, will monitor the hydraulic brakes and shut the engine down if the brake pedal is depressed. This is to protect the vehicle from being stolen while engine is running in Cool Down mode.
